I
played CYO basketball with Peggy Sullivan and Patsy O'Brien. They called
us "PEP" for Patsy, Ellie, Peggy. I remember attending all the
CYO functions including the Dances where the Spanish kids taught us how to
really dance - Latin! I even won the Charleston contest with Jimmy
Napuli as my partner.
I feel blessed to have been a part of that era in Chelsea. We had no idea of prejudice. Every kid had cool stuff to teach each other. The biggest stress was what to wear to the next dance. Cuban, Puerto Rican, Irish, Italian - we worked it out and created some good memories. Ellen Murphy Laplante |
