NEWSLETTER
St. Bernard's Reunion
Another successful
reunion on Sunday April 24, 2005. Approximately
350 people attended this yearly
event. Music and entertainment was
provided by the renowned Bobby Duffy and Sam Ubano’s Band.
What more can I say. It was
great to see Jimmy Brassil, Jimmy Mullen, Artie and Cathy Tupper, Lynn Loftus
and all the Loftus girls, Tom Mcgeehan, Joe
Salbeck, Tom Murphy, Timmy Mahoney, Donald Walsh, Charlie Perrone, Cee Cee
Senkewitz, Chrissy Carrol, Ellie Murphy, Susan Harper, Debbie Gilson, Pat
Shaeffer, Patty Corcoran, Maryln Bolster, Marty
Mulroy, Phil Blair, Dan Andrews, the McGirrs, Mary Lee Evers, Susan Hand, Marion
Gallagher, Eddie Upton, Bobby Gibson, Tom Rode, and of course Tom and Martha
Demers, the entire TCGVA board and so many others.
Special thanks to Mary Ellen Murray and Lorraine Foreman Mahoney on
hosting this spectacular event.
Friday April 22 Limerick Café
On
Friday evening approximately 50 former neighborhood friends met and enjoyed the
food, drinks, good times and music. Several
friends showed up who could not make the reunion on Sunday. Dorothy Falzon, Ivan Quavealu, Charlie Falzon, Pat Kryswicki
and Jimmy Mac. Special thanks to Marion Gallagher, Mary Lee Evers and Susan Hand
on handling this event on short notice, good food and great music selection (the
“Oldies”). We are fortunate to
have such good friends.
Saturday April 23 Jakes Saloon
On
Saturday the “Mayor” Joe Dean hosted a brunch at Jakes Saloon and it was
attended by approximately 15 former friends.
It was a great afternoon and thanks to Tom and Martha the lunch was
delicious. Good vibes and plenty of reminiscing about the neighborhood
couldn’t have made a better day.
Betty Ford Clinic
Early
Monday morning Phil Blair was spotted waiting for the limo pick-up to the Clinic
along with several other staggering candidates.
What a fantastic time was had by all.
Cant wait for the next event.
New TCGVA web site
A new
and more friendly website was launched April 1.
I know it was a bit confusing at first but once directed to the new site
it is just as easy. Please be
patient we are trying to return the profiles and email section that we all
enjoyed. This is the first item on
our May 7 membership meeting. This item was approved and the Profiles and emails
will return shortly.
Newsletter goes Electronic
Effective
with this issue of the TCGVA newsletter, only those members
in good standing will receive this newsletter.
In addition a paper copy will not be mailed to those members who have
access to a computer. Once the
website is finalized and our
membership confirmed access will be granted to certain areas of our site by
password.
TCGVA membership drive
As of
May 1 we currently have 61 members registered to the TCGVA. Please encourage friends and associates to join our
organization. Special thanks to
Martha and Tom Demers for providing us with a very thorough, precise and
professional report.
May
7th Board of Directors Meeting
The
TCGVA Board of Directors met at Madison Square Gargen, courtesy of Joe Dean, on
Saturday May 7. In attendance were
Board Members Juan Espada, Bill Smith, Martha Demers, Ray Serina, Joe Dean,
Brian Sullivan and Pat Crowley. Also
in attendance were Tom Demers and
Julie Smith. Board agreed to reinstate the Profiles and email addresses to the
web site. A “Day at Monmouth Park” will be planned for the summer.
A Christmas party will be scheduled for Saturday December 3 at the twins Pub (31st
St and 9th Avenue) A Day at the Theater will be planned by Martha
Demers. Pat Crowley will head up a
committee to put together a memoir of the neighborhood.
Juan Espada will upgrade bulletin board on the website.
More information about these events will be published in later issues.
Richard Nader Doo Wop Show
On June
18 at the Continental Arena,Richard Nader’s Annual Doo Wop show will be
presented. This is a great show for
all you “Oldies” fans. Headlining the show with be Johnny Maestro and the
Brooklyn Bridge , the Duprees, Lou Christie, Kenny Vance and the Planatones,
Earl “Speedo” Carroll and the Cadillacs. Tickets are $40.

Mothers Day
TCGVA
would like to wish all those beautiful Chelsea and Village Chicks a very Happy
Mothers Day. This wish is also
extended to their mothers who created such lovely women.
Memorial Day
Please
remember all our fallen neighborhood friends who heroically gave their lives to
protect our freedom that we cherish today.
Also please remember those veterans who served honorably and who are
currently in the Armed forces
