"I play the Doo Wop 50 tape whenever I've had a long day. When Arlene Smith sings Maybe or the
Penguins sing Earth Angel it transports me back to my days as a teenager. Music has great power to evoke memories.
I always remember my days at St. Bernard's with fondness. I remember all my classmates and the good times we had in and out of school. I remember playing ball with the Brassils in the parking lot for Checker Cabs on West 17th Street, basketball games in Kelly and (now) Seravalli (God Bless him) Park. We also played off-the-point on 13th and Hudson. The nuns, brothers and teachers were dedicated to their profession and their God and taught us well. The spelling and grammar I used as a reporter was instilled in me at St. Bernard's."
