For me it started with living on 21st Street between 8th and 9th Avenues and playing roller hockey on 8th Avenue and 21st Street. In the summertime we played stick ball, punch ball and stoop ball in and around the P.S. 11 schoolyard. Later we moved to 418 West 17th Street (the Robert Fulton Houses) and played softball in 13th Street Park. At night we hung out at the CYO (remember Mr. Jeffers?) and often went to the dances. The
thought of a reunion and seeing old friends again
is really exciting to me. There is a closeness about people from Chelsea
and Greenwich Village that I don’t think exists anywhere else, where you
cannot see someone for some 35-40 years and then, when you meet, it was
like you just saw them yesterday. Thank you for this SITE. Duggie
